Earlier this week, Facebook announced it would start trading its stock publicly later in 2012. However, some people who thought they were getting a head start on buying Facebook shares have now discovered that the "stock" is worthless. Earlier this week, an Oshkosh, Wisconsin woman was arrested and is now facing 31 felony counts for allegedly selling fake Facebook stocks to at least five people.

The local TV news web site Fox11Online.com reports that Marianne Oleson, 46, sold the fake Facebook stock in part to pay for work done to her home by Randy Stafford. Stafford said that when she could pay for his work, she offered him what she said was $28,000 of Facebook shares.  Stafford actually paid $10,000 for the stock, and accepted the other $18,000 as the payment for his work.

Reuters reports that Oleson told her victims she had received a total of $1 million in Facebook stock because her daughter was somehow acquainted with Facebook's founder Mark Zuckerberg.

The Razer Blade is apparently a big hit, even with its high $2,799 price. The gaming PC-themed laptop, which was first announced last August, has now sold out of its first wave of units, according to a post on the company's Facebook page. Razer didn't give a specific number of how many of the Razer Blade notebooks were sold.

Just to recap, the Razer Blade is a a 17 inch notebook but weights just under 7 pounds and is only .86 inches thick. It comes with a small LCD placed next to the keyboard that can display things like in-game information, or can be used as a second small monitor to watch YouTube videos or surf the net while you play games on the main screen. It also has 10 special keys above the LCD screen that can change depending on which game is being played on the Razer.

While the fight against the SOPA and PIPA bills in the US Congress has taken a bit of a breather, new protests have sprug up over the international Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA). Like SOPA and PIPA, ACTA was written in part to try to combat online piracy but opponents have claimed the act is too broadly written and will result in blocked web sites.

The agreement has already been signed by a number of countries, including the US. However, there's been a growing movement by a number of people to try to stop more countries from getting on board ACTA. It's been the most active in Poland where street protests against ACTA in that country have happened earlier this week.

TechDirt reports that despite the protests, Poland's government signed onto ACTA on Thursday. In perhaps the strangest protest of all, a number of Poland's lawmakers decided to don Guy Fawkes masks in Parliament to protest the vote. These masks have become well known as one of the symbols of the hacker group Anonymous. The group has been busy launching cyber attacks on a number of web sites in the past week, in part to protest laws and agreements such as ACTA.

The next generation of high speed wireless Internet access got its first public test this week. StarNewsOnline.com reports that the nation's first ever white spaces network has now gone live on Thursday in parts of New Hanover County, NC. Visitors to the county's Hugh MacRae Park will be able to access the Internet for free in the first major public test of the white space concept.

White spaces, also known as "super Wi-Fi" or WiFi-NC ("NC" stands for narrow channel), will allow for data transmissions to be sent via unused parts of the broadcast TV signal spectrum in the US. The theory behind this system is that high-speed wireless access can be used across tens of miles instead of WiFi's current limit of a few hundred feet. Also, the white space wireless signal would be able to penetrate through buildings and other obstacles better than conventional WiFi.

There's been rumors about the next hardware version of Microsoft's Xbox console in the past few months. This week, IGN reports, via unnamed sources, that the console will have a graphics chip that will be based on AMD's Radeon 6000 series. The article further claims that the graphics chip will have hardware specs close to the Radeon HD 6670, which currently sells for $79.99.

According to IGN, the graphics in the next Xbox console will be six time as powerful as the current Xbox 360. Furthermore, it is expected that the next Xbox will be 20 percent more powerful than Nintendo's upcoming Wii U console which is expected to launch sometime in 2012. The article adds that Microsoft is targeting an October-November 2013 launch for the next Xbox.
